92 points "Smooth, rich and polished, with a tasty array of currant, anise, plum and blackberry fruit that's sharply focused, with pretty, toasty oak nuances adding depth and dimenison on the finish" Best 2000-2010

"91 points Wine Spectator: "Starts out lean and austere, with a meaty edge to the crisp anise, cherry and currant notes, finishing with an earthy edge and a touch of vanilla bean. Best from 2001 through 2009. 30,000 cases made." (10/2000)"

92 points "Readers wanting a jolt of blatant toasty oak with straightforward flavors reminiscent of cherry syrup, coffee, and herbs might appreciate this wine more than I. It is medium-bodied, monolithic, and best drunk over the next 8-10 years. Regarding the points/power ratio, I am reminded of an old retailer's sarcastic sales slogan - "Why pay less?"" Best 2000-2010
