"Deep shiny purple black with boysenberry/blackberry hues. Perfumed Shiraz aromatics of sweet vanillin oak, spice and a hint of chocolate. A very fine textured, silky smooth, concentrated, spicy and succulent expression of Shiraz with plenty of chocolate and mouthfilling red and black fruit in the palate. It is the little sibling to Filsell and has lots of the same beautiful flavour that we find in that champion wine. Outstanding value. 14.5% alc"

93 points "The Miamba Vineyard is located at the southern end of the Barossa near Lyndoch. Historically, an important vineyard that fell into disarray until 1983 when winemaker Grant Burge purchased the block and re-established the vineyard. TASTING NOTES: Opaque black crimson colour with black purple hue, showing good cling to the glass. Top note of violets, followed by liquorice allsorts and vanilla, an appealing sniff. The palate flavours are on the joosy side, showing good weight and mouthfeel. Flavours of vanilla, liquorice, ripe plum and spice are supported by fine grained, perfectly balanced tannins. Aftertaste of liquorice, ripe plum and vanilla. Cellar 3-4 years (2011-2012). Alc/Vol: 14.5%"

"Regional diversity was marked in the more expensive wines. For sweet, rounded plummy fruits with velvet smooth tannins, Barossa shiraz from Charlie Melton or Grant Burge Miamba fit the bill"

4 stars "There are perfumed aromas—leather, licorice and vanilla—along with a cornucopia of up-front fruit flavours that include mulberry, kirsch liqueur and chocolate-covered cherries. The oak has been seamlessly integrated and there’s just enough moderating acidity to provide good balance. The tannin is subtle and not obtrusive while the finish is lengthy and luxurious. Pop the cork and throw a rack of lamb on the barbie"

93 points "This opulent wine is dark red in colour with purple hues. The nose exhibits dense and rich fruit with blackberry, plum and cherry aromas. The palate is full and luscious with black cherry, raspberries and velvety chocolate flavours enhanced by toasty vanillin oak and grainy tannins. A wine with excellent weight, texture and persistence of flavour; drinking well now, and has a cellaring potential of ten years. Drink: 2020"

"Shiraz has been part of viticulture in the Barossa Valley since the 1840s and is ideally suited to the district’s soils and climate. The fruit for this wine comes from the Miamba Vineyard, which is located on deep alluvial soils in the Lyndoch Valley district of the Barossa, in between the renowned Filsell and Cameron Vale Vineyards. The fruit was harvested at full ripeness and after crushing, the shiraz was fermented on skins for seven days in a combination of stainless-steel rotary and static fermenters and open concrete fermenters. After pressing and completion of fermentation, the wine was matured in new and older small American and some French oak for 18 months"
