4 stars "Green apple aromas. Crisp with some good body on the palate with some mineral flavors. Delicious with sauerkraut."

"A hefty discount makes this outstanding Riesling, from a classic vintage in the Wachau, an even better deal. Smaragd is the terribly unpronounceable term to identify wines made from grapes that achieve the best ripeness at harvest. Think of it as a Spatlese plus kind of designation. There is ripeness a plenty in this one, but corresponding acidity levels too and wonderful minerality."
